Services at Pembroke Public Library

Computers & Wi-Fi

Internet Access & Wi-Fi
Our Wi-Fi is free and open to any patrons in the library building or in the front parking lot. You may use your own device (laptop, tablet, phone, etc.) to connect.

All of our computers outside of the youth department have an internet connection and several browser selections available.
​
Computers (Main Library)
Computers in the main library have internet access. All have software for patron use including Microsoft Office 2016 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher). You must have a library card in good standing to use a computer. ​​Please ask at the circulation desk about computer use if you do not yet have a library card.
​
Scanners
​Two flatbed scanners are available at two separate computer stations for document or image scanning. Scan may be saved on a disc or USB or can be saved in your email of Cloud storage space.
​
Computers (Children's Room)
The children's room has six computers available for youth with pre-loaded educational programs for a variety of ages and levels from toddlers to 12 year olds. These computers are not connected to the internet and cannot print. No library card is required to use these stations.
​
Headphones
We ask that patrons listening to sound on their computer or device use headphones. Headphones are available to be checked out at the circulation desk. All children's computers have two sets of headphones available at all times.
​

Technology Services (with Fees)

​Printing
​
Printing is available from our public computers and wirelessly. Black and white prints are $.10 per page, color prints are $.50 per page.
​

Photocopying
Black and white photocopying is available for $.10 per page; color photocopies are $0.50 per page. The copier is located near the main desk and is self-service. Please ask for help if needed.
​
Faxing
Faxing is available for $2.00 for the first page, $.50 per additional page of the same fax. Toll free numbers are free to fax. Faxing is self-service, with instructions at the machine. Please ask for help if needed and show your receipt at the circulation desk when finished. Our 
fax number is 781-294-0742.

Meeting Rooms

Exhibit at PPL
There is space for art exhibits in the large meeting room. There are also two cabinets for the display of collections.

Restrooms & Changing Room
The library has three restrooms: Men's (handicap accessible), Women's (handicap accessible), and family. Our family bathroom is gender neutral has a baby changing table.

Charging Stations
The library has dedicated Charging Stations with a tablet shelf for your devices located in the main Library reading area, the children's room, and the YA Lounge. 

Play Space
The library has a play space in the children's room stocked with blocks, toy cars, a puppet theatre, two colorful play rugs, puzzles, games, and more. We strongly support play in the library as it allows children to develop their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength.  For play that is heavily physical (running, throwing, climbing. etc.), we welcome families to visit our outside areas.

Museum Passes

Library of Things
​
The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional library items that complement the Pembroke Public Library’s mission to facilitate lifelong learning, spark imagination, and connect with the community. Our collection includes puzzles, a paper shedder, a bird watching kit, and more!  Follow the above linked text to learn about our available Things.

Education Kits
​
The Education Kit collection contains tools to use at home or in the classroom to help families and children learn through hands-on activities that focus on STEM, creativity, critical thinking, or problem-solving. Local History
The library has a special collection of books on Pembroke's long history, including town reports, school yearbooks, and other original documents. Follow the above linked text to learn about our Local History Room or to complete a Research Request.

Other Services

Test Proctor
​
The library has Proctor services available for monitoring tests and exams​. Please call for details (781-293-6771).

Passport Applications
Pembroke Public Library is an authorized Passport Acceptance Facility and accepts U.S. passport applications by appointment by calling 781-293-6771. Follow the above linked text for more details.
