The Pembroke Public Library provides discounted museum passes for fun and learning. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Pembroke Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, and the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library. All you need is your library card!   

Reserve the available passes from your home computer and pick them up at the library the day before you need them. Passes on school vacation weeks book quickly!



We try to keep information about the museums up-to-date, but we recommend you call or check the museum's website to confirm hours of operation, dates opened/closed and admissions fees.

Boston Children’s Museum
Boston Children's Museum engages children and families in joyful discovery experiences that instill an appreciation of our world, develop foundational skills, and spark a lifelong love of learning. As an early museum experience for children, our environment is informal, but our purpose is serious. We want children to grow up feeling secure and self-confident with respect for others and the natural world. We encourage imagination, curiosity, questioning, and realism. We provide opportunities for new insights, involvement with the world and understanding of human differences with world-class exhibits and programs.

Heritage Museums and Gardens
The Heritage Museum and Gardens is comprised of three galleries and expansive gardens located in historic Sandwich, Massachusetts. It includes galleries for American Folk Art, a vintage carousel, automobiles and traveling exhibitions. The gardens feature a collection of thousands of rhododendrons, including a collection of the world-renowned Dexter variety. Their typical bloom time is from Memorial Day Weekend to mid-June. Other horticultural areas of interest include: holly, daylily, herb, hosta, and heather gardens, as well as more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers. The grounds also include the Old East Mill, a windmill built in Orleans, Massachusetts in 1800, and extensively restored in 1999-2000. In 2002, a labyrinth was also added to the grounds, designed by Marty Cain, one of the best-known labyrinth designers in North America. Also located on the grounds is the Hart Family Maze Garden and the Cape Cod Hydrangea Garden.

Heritage Museums & Gardens logo
Historic New England
Historic New England is a historic preservation organization which owns and operates historic house museums and properties open to the public throughout most of New England. The majority of the 36 properties are in Massachusetts, but locations exist in all NE states but Vermont. These include Castle Tucker (Wiscasset, ME), the Jackson House (Portsmouth, NH), the Spencer-Pierce-Little Farm, which (Newbury, MA), Roseland Cottage (Woodstock, CT), the Otis House (Boston, MA), the Lyman Estate (Waltham, MA), Gropius House (Lincoln, MA), and the Arnold House (Lincoln, RI). Styles represented include Federal, Colonial Revival, Victorian, Queen Anne, Arts & Crafts, and Modern, among many others. The website provides much detail, including directions, contact information, and history of each property.


The pass admits: free admission for two adults and their children and grandchildren under eighteen to tour one of Historic New England's thirty-eight sites. Please see their website for more information.

The Institute of Contemporary Art
The Institute of Contemporary Art strives to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists, and the creative process.
The primary activities of the ICA are threefold:
• To present outstanding contemporary art in all media, including visual art
   exhibitions, music, film, video and performance, that is deserving of public
   attention and has not been presented in depth to Boston audiences
• To provide innovative experiential learning opportunities for people of all ages
   through direct encounters with artists and art making
• To design interpretative programs that provide context, develop appreciation,
   and add meaning to contemporary art and culture

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is at once an intimate collection of fine and decorative art and a vibrant, innovative venue for contemporary artists, musicians and scholars. Housed in a stunning 15th-century Venetian-style palace with three stories of galleries surrounding a sun- and flower-filled courtyard, the museum provides an unusual backdrop for the viewing of art. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's preeminent collection contains more than 2,500 paintings, sculptures, tapestries, furniture, manuscripts, rare books and decorative arts. The galleries house works by some of the most recognized artists in the world, including Titian, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Manet, Degas, Whistler and Sargent. The spirit of the architecture, the personal character of the arrangements and the artistic display of the enchanting courtyard in full bloom all create an atmosphere that distinguishes the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as an intimate and culturally-rich treasure.

​John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to the memory of our nation's thirty-fifth president and to all those who through the art of politics seek a new and better world. Located on a ten-acre park, overlooking the sea that he loved and the city that launched him to greatness, the Library stands as a vibrant tribute to the life and times of John F. Kennedy. Tour the Museum which portrays the life, leadership, and legacy of President Kennedy, conveys his enthusiasm for politics and public service, and illustrates the nature of the office of the President. Students and scholars can also arrange to conduct research using the collection of historical materials chronicling mid-20th century politics and the life and administration of John F. Kennedy.
 
Present your physical or digital Massachusetts library card at the Admissions Desk to receive a 50% discount on the cardholder's admission ticket. This offer is valid for visitors aged 13 and over and the visitor must present a Massachusetts library card to receive the discount. No pass is needed. The Museum Of Fine Arts
The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870, and opened the doors of its Copley Square building to the public on July 4, 1876, later moving to its present Huntington Avenue location, which opened on November 9, 1909. The MFA welcomes approximately one million visitors each year from neighboring communities around the globe. It is one of the great encyclopedic art museums in the world, with collections comprising more than 450,000 objects representing all periods and cultures.

 Museum of Science
The Museum of Science is devoted to collecting and studying natural history specimens, the society displayed its collections in numerous temporary facilities until 1864, when it opened the New England Museum of Natural History at the corner of Berkeley and Boylston Streets in Boston's Back Bay. That museum is now known worldwide as the Museum of Science, Boston. One of the world's largest science centers and Boston's most attended cultural institution, the Museum attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors a year through its vibrant programs and 700 interactive exhibits.

The New England Aquarium
Take a trip to exotic waters and experience more than 70 exhibits featuring aquatic animals from around the world. Don't miss the fearsome lionfish, the delicate leafy seadragons and the mysterious giant Pacific octopus. Go out back to see the Northern fur seals in action in their open-air exhibit, and be sure to visit the Atlantic harbor seals out front.

Plimoth Patuxet Museums
Plimoth Patuxet provides an engaging and experiential outdoor and indoor learning environment on its main campus and at the State Pier on Plymouth’s waterfront. Our permanent exhibits tell the complex and interwoven stories of two distinct cultures - English and Native. The main exhibits are enhanced with an exciting menu of special events, public programs and workshops that offer a rich and diverse exploration of the 17th-century.

Robbins Museum of Archaeology
Mass Archaeology curates extensive archaeological and ethnographic collections, including artifacts, excavation records, rare books, and photographs, at its repository. With 21,000 square feet of exhibit and office space, the Robbins Museum houses approximately 200,000 cultural items in its collections, as well as a lecture hall and picture gallery, a library, collections, and laboratory space.

USS Constitution Museum

Roger Williams Zoo
One of our nation’s oldest zoos (opened in 1872), Roger Williams Park Zoo is an integral part of southern New England’s history and heritage, bringing excitement and discovery of the natural world to generations of visitors.  Today the Zoo is one of Rhode Island’s top tourist attractions, welcoming over half a million people annually from all over New England and beyond.

Franklin Park Zoo
The Franklin Park Zoo is a 72-acre site nestled in Boston’s historic Franklin Park, long considered the "crown jewel" of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace Park System. The Zoo was founded in 1912 and was managed by the City of Boston until 1958, when the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC), a state agency, assumed management. The MDC managed the Zoos until 1991, when Governor William Weld signed legislation to create the private Commonwealth Zoological Corporation (CZC). In July of 1997 the CZC changed its name to Zoo New England to reflect the changing image of the Zoos.

Stone Zoo
The Stone Zoo, formerly known as the Middlesex Fells Zoo, is located on a 26-acre site near the sparkling Spot Pond reservoir in Stoneham, MA. Charles Price, Superintendent of the Metropolitan District Commission’s Middlesex Fells Reservation, founded the Zoo in 1905, and in 1969, the site was renamed in honor of Walter D. Stone, a former Zoo Director. In 1991, the Commonwealth Zoological Corporation (CZC) was created to maintain care, custody, and control of both Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo. In July of 1997 the CZC changed its name to Zoo New England to reflect the changing image of the Zoos.
