NaNoWriMo is an online nonprofit organization that "provides tools, structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds — on and off the page." Anyone can join for free, gaining access to events, forums,writing prep courses, and editing and publishing resources.
For Children's Book Authors/Illustrators:
The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, a nonprofit organization, has a New England chapter. Individuals must pay a yearly membership fee to gain access to professional development events, online resources, and an active Listserv to connect with other local creators.
For those seeking publication:
Writer Beware is an organization with a mission "to track, expose, and raise awareness of questionable, illicit, and/or nonstandard practices in and around the publishing industry" to assist aspiring writers in avoiding pitfalls and scams.
- Thayer Public Library (Braintree) has a Writers Group that meets monthly in-person; those at all stages of their writing journey are invited to discuss their work, the writing process, and the publishing process. Find more information and check on upcoming dates on their online calendar.

- The Cape Cod Writers Center has a listing of Groups available, both virtual and in-person, for a variety of areas of Massachusetts and genres of writing.
- To Tell a Tale Writers' Group is a Worcester-based "mutual-support group for people who want to improve their writing skills." The group meets virtually on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month to critique works by their members; their schedule and guidelines can be found on MeetUp.
